Plan Now to Participate!

Dear Colleague:

We encourage you to share your research and submit your paper to the 2011 combined meeting of the Conference on Optical Fiber Communication and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference, which will be held March 6-10, 2011 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

OFC/NFOEC is the field's premier international conference, with the most stimulating and comprehensive coverage of cutting-edge basic and applied developments anywhere. OFC/NFOEC will provide unparalleled insight into what's next in optical communications and networking.

This is your opportunity to present your work in a setting that encourages one-on-one interaction and the exchange of ideas with your colleagues in the field.

Featured again this year is a multi-session symposium, Meeting the Computercom Challenge: Components and Architecture for Computational Systems and Data Centers. Technical paper submissions are encouraged. A host of complementary activities from short courses to exhibit floor lectures and panel discussions will complement this symposium. A second special symposium featuring invited speakers and a panel discussion on packet switching will also be presented.

Areas covered by the conference include all aspects of optical networks, optical communication systems and devices used to enable them. Topics likely to generate much interest include green networks, coherent detection for high spectral efficiency, 100G and beyond, wireline-wireless networking and high-speed photonic integration.

We hope you will spend a few days with us and other members of the optical communications community in Los Angeles--the entertainment capital of the world. While in Los Angeles be sure to visit the new, one-of-a-kind entertainment complex L.A. LIVE, located next to the convention center. This spectacular area covers six city blocks and houses a world-class sports venue, 50 restaurants and countless entertainment options including nightclubs, concert venues, and the brand new interactive Grammy Museum.

Mark March 6-10 on your calendar today, and then be sure to submit your paper before the deadline of October 12, 2010, 12:00 noon EDT (16.00 GMT). We look forward to seeing you in Los Angeles!

Sincerely,

Chuck Joyner, Infinera, USA, Program Chair
Dominic Schupke, Nokia Siemens Networks, Germany, Program Chair
Vishnu Shukla, Verizon Labs, USA, Program Chair

Submissions for OFC/NFOEC 2011 will open in August 2010.
