OPNEXT HIGH SPEED TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP ON DISPLAY AT OFC/NFOEC 2010
Opnext to display the broadest 40Gbps and 100Gbps portfolio which now includes the world’s first 127Gbps coherent receiver for real time single wavelength 100G DWDM transmission
San Diego, CA—March 22, 2010— Opnext, Inc. (NASDAQ:OPXT), a global leader in state-of-the-art laser technology and optical communications, today announced it will debut multiple live demonstrations at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC) being held March 23-25th in San Diego, California.
The demonstrations highlight core technologies in 100Gbps line side, 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) client optics, 43G DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) long haul modules, and 40GbE client optics.
Additionally, on Monday, March 22, Opnext CEO Gilles Bouchard will participate in the “Components and Subsystems for 40- and 100Gbps” panel during the OSA Executive Forum: Technology Innovations and Business Transformations Optical Communications in 2010 and Beyond.
Opnext will feature the following demonstrations at the exhibition:
-- The world’s first live demonstration of a real-time 100Gbps DWDM solution based upon a single wavelength coherent receiver supporting forward error correction code with 20 percent overhead.
-- The Company’s live demonstration of a CFP MSA (multi-source-agreement) 100GBASE-LR4 client side module based upon internal laser and photodiode technology. Opnext will demonstrate 100GbE data traffic running error free over 10km of single mode fiber. The 100GbE traffic will be generated by the Ixia K2 traffic generator and analyzer featuring a CFP MSA based optical interface. The TRC5E20 is available to customers for purchase.
-- Opnext will demonstrate a 43G Tunable 5x7" 300-pin transponder featuring DQPSK (Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulation scheme. This transponder makes possible the move from discrete components to an integrated solution for up to 43G long haul line-side applications. This module, the TRV7BC0, is currently available to customers for purchase.
-- Opnext will also display the first sample of a 100G line side module in the OIF MSA, 100G Long-Haul DWDM transmission module.
“This has been a year of many firsts for Opnext in the 40G and 100G space. We have demonstrated and delivered 40 GbE and 100GbE compliant client-side modules to our customer base,” said Gilles Bouchard, President and CEO, Opnext. “Our recently announced high speed multiplexer, Analog Digital Converter and live real time single wavelength 100G DWDM trial have positioned Opnext as a leader in next generation technologies.”
Opnext will be exhibiting in Booth # 802 at OFC/NFOEC 2010 being held March 23-25, at the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California.
